  1. Why should I donate instead of sell?

The average person spends anywhere between $800.00 and $3000.00 advertising and trying to sell their timeshare—which eventually sells for $1,500.00 to $4,500.00. That’s not much reward for what often takes a year or more of effort. Even worse, the Better Business Bureau recently issued a warning saying the timeshare resale market is one of the top ten scams in the U.S.

  2. How much of a tax write off will I get for donating my timeshare?

Upon transferring ownership of your timeshare, we will send you a receipt as proof of your donation,  which you can then use to qualify for a tax write-off. The amount of your tax write off will be determined by the value of your property, which should be assessed by a licensed third party appraiser.

If you simply want to donate without first getting your property appraised, the tax code allows donors to take a deduction of up to $5000 without a formal appraisal. The donor must still provide support for their claimed value.

Once you receive your receipt, you should discuss its use with your accountant (or whomever you use for tax advice). You can also review the IRS web site regarding charitable donations at www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p526.pdf.

Warning: In order to legally qualify for a tax deduction, your property must be deeded to a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Beware that some low cost donation options may be skipping this step to keep their costs down. While this may seem like a bargain at first, it could lead to a very expensive audit.   4. Do I have to pay an upfront fee?

No, we don’t require upfront payment. Beware of companies trying to take your money over the phone. We have been helping timeshare owners for the past 8 years at the same location and with the same great reliable service. In order to prove our trustworthiness,  we are the only company that doesn’t charge an up-front fee. We prove ourselves first. Before you pay anything we will first do all the title work, draft the necessary documents and completely prepare your timeshare for transfer. You don’t pay until we first prove to you that we can transfer your timeshare.   6. Can I choose the charity that my timeshare will benefit?

Yes! When you donate your timeshare you can suggest a charity you wish to support. Ultimately, our charity determines all grants but we welcome your suggestion. If a donor does not suggest a particular charity, we give the proceeds to our own list of important causes such as the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer’s Association.   8. How long will this process take?

Typically, transfers of property take between 8-12 weeks. This timeframe does not include the amount of time that the resorts and/or counties may take to complete the process.

  9. What are the costs for me to donate my timeshare?

10. What if I don’t live in the US?

Non-US residents are welcome to donate timeshares to any of our listed charities. However, if you are interested in receiving a tax write-off for this donation in your home country you must first consult a tax advisor in your country and find out if this donation would qualify for a write-off.
