Did you you sign a document that you thought was a  ”timeshare sales agreement”. Well, we’re sorry to say, you’ve probably been scammed. The articles linked to below describe the latest fraud busts in Florida (aka Timeshare Fraud Capitol of the World).

At Donate For A Cause, we want timeshare owner’s to make the best exit choice possible.  Here are some tips to remember if you are trying to sell your timeshare.

1. Never pay money an exorbitant amount of money to  sell your timeshare
2. Any contract you do sign with these companies is probably just a “marketing agreement” not a sales contract. What you’re really agreeing to is a listing fee to market your timeshare, not a guarantee of sale. Read the fine print.
3. Did they claim to have buyers lined up, ready to buy your timeshare, they just needed your credit number?  These “buyers” are probably fictitious.
4. If you repeatedly call the agency, only to get the run-around, you are probably dealing with a fraudulent company. Contact your state’s consumer protection agency immediately.  Or contact The Federal Trade Commission. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, visit the FTC’s online Complaint Assistant or call  1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).

Those trying to sell your timeshare, be wary! Timeshare hucksters prey on desperate timeshare owners. Getting rid of your timeshare will not  happen overnight.
